I figured out why I hate certain fictional characters and not others.

I don't like characters who are bullies, and I don't like characters who have entitlement complexes. It's as simple as that.

I never liked Severus Snape because he tormented innocent children over whom he held authority, and because he believed Lily owed it to him to return his feelings, even after she stopped being friends with him, even after she married someone else, even after she died. I can't entirely sympathize with Erik because he believed he deserved to have Christine, even if that meant deceiving her, manipulating her, and forcing her to stay with him for the rest of her life. On the other hand, I love Holden Caulfield because while he had a very cynical view of most things, he didn't believe he deserved to have anything meaningful in his life.

I'm not THAT angsty...I think.

Sob. Cry. Sniffle. You lead an awful existence, tortured by those such as your father, your House, Harry, Voldemort, Snape, and the list goes on. Often going hand in hand with Slashy!Draco, you are usually paired up with either Harry or (ew) Lucius. Sometimes suicidal, sometimes just very fond of how blood looks on your pale skin, you bitch and whine throughout the whole story. How depressing.

Find out which Draco you are.

Inspired by my last post

I just had an idea for a scene I might end up using in one of my as-yet-unwritten HP fanfics.

(no subject)

So I have an idea for a Harry Potter AU involving Slytherin!Chessmaster!Ron, slightly-unstable-due-to-suppression-of-magic Ariana-esque Harry, Ravenclaw!Hermione, and Manipulative!Dumbledore (though not in the way you'd expect, and no more manipulative than he is in canon, really).

*adds to list of fics I'll probably never write*

Bzzzzzzzz!

"Dumbledore" means "bumblebee" in Old English.

So, "Albus Dumbledore" means "white bumblebee," "Aberforth Dumbledore" means "bumblebee from the river," and "Ariana Dumbledore" means "most holy bumblebee."

A very buzzy family, all things considered.

The mother of all Harry Potter fanfiction writing prompts

"Hmm ... I wonder if any fanfic communities have tried that: re-imagine Potter based only on the chapter headings."

~Dan H over on Ferretbrain

Tempting. Oh-so-very tempting.
