I do not like shaved ice.

I realized that after a few bites. I'd already dumped the ice into a bowl to minimize the chance of spilling when it inevitably melted, so I microwaved it for a minute, poured it back into the cup, and drank it. I'd gotten the passion fruit flavor, so I ended up with something akin to fruit punch, though I suspect fruit punch has more actual fruit in it.

*tries to remember if "fruit" was ever slang for a gay man or a sexually desirable woman*

It was still disgusting, but at least it didn't give me brain freeze when melted. Why anyone would have shaved ice when they could have good, honest ice cream or sorbet is beyond me.

I've never heard of 'shaved ice', but I'm assuming the idea is to have something like an ice lolly that can be eaten with a spoon rather than having to be licked ;-p

I'm still waiting to see if the improvised rhubarb fool/mousse that I made several hours ago is going eventually to set or not... it was a combination of about three recipes (fruit fool/mousse/cold soufflé), since I only had single cream, which can't be whipped, and needed to add gelatine!

It didn't set, though it's extremely tasty. Perhaps I should freeze it!

It was too tasty - something like the texture of apple snow with the flavour of rhubarb and (cream) custard.
There's not a lot left :-D

I should probably have boiled down the rhubarb syrup further, and possibly included the second egg white in the custard for extra setting power instead of whipping and folding it in.

It's described as a soft, wet slurry, and traditionally contained violent colouring and flavouring that stained children's mouths (marketed as part of the fun).
