Specifics
Best/worst title?
Best: Titles have never been my strong point, but Apollo is probably my favorite. It has a grandeur that fits well with the fandom, even for a humble parody.
Worst: I'm not thrilled with The Heart of a Clown, because it kind of contradicts what Homo actually thinks in the fic.
Best/worst summary?
Best: The fangirls' dreams are coming true at last, but a mysterious individual calling himself Apollo is out to ruin their ingenious planes! Who could he be? Certainly not that stupid fop, Raoul de Chagny...
Worst: Homo watches Gwynplaine and Dea sleep, and remembers the night they met. It's not very evocative.
Best/worst first line?
Best: I guess it's A new day has begun from The Heart of a Clown. I'm not very good at first lines.
Worst: A thousand years ago, he'd been onstage, singing himself hoarse, the noise from the audience temporarily taking the place of his heartbeat, though the clock on the bedside table informed him that it had only been a few hours from No Angels In Hell. That one didn't know when to stop.
Best/worst last line?
Best: He was probably still destined for hell, all things considered, but he wasn't quite there yet from No Angels In Hell.
Worst: The Heart of a Clown begins and ends with the same line, and it's the only other option, so it's that. :P
General questions
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
I didn't expect to write anything at all last year, thanks to spending most of 2018 with mild depression. I hope I'll be more productive this year.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?
I would never, ever have expected to write Erik/Christine, a pairing I have repeatedly proclaimed my hatred for. I felt really uncomfortable and unhappy afterwards, though, so I don't think I'll be doing that again.
What's your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.
The Heart of a Clown makes me pretty happy.
Okay, NOW your most popular story.
No Angels In Hell, unsurprisingly.
Story most underappreciated by the universe?
The Heart of a Clown, also unsurprisingly.
Story that could have been better?
I wish The Heart of a Clown were longer, but anything else I put in would have been filler at that point.
Sexiest story?
No Angels In Hell is about a one-night stand. :P
Saddest story?
None of them are particularly sad, but No Angels In Hell contains quite a bit of angst on Erik's part.
Most fun?
I hope Apollo turns out to be fun.
Story with single sweetest moment?
I rather like this bit from The Heart of a Clown: She could not see the boy who plucked her from her mother's frozen arms and carried her away through the snow and wind, but she must have listened to his heart beating while bundled up inside his coat. She must have loved that heart then, for its rhythm meant she was safe. It is the same heart she loves now.
Hardest story to write?
I don't remember having too much trouble with any of them.
Easiest/most fun story to write?
The first chapter of Apollo was pretty fun to write, mostly because I wasn't worried about meeting a specific word count or making it sound good. :P
Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?
I don't think so.
Most overdue story?
Huh?
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Writing a sex scene, albeit not an explicit one. I'm not sure I learned anything, though.
What are your fic writing goals for next year?
Continue working on Apollo, rewrite and finish Ghost Ship, maybe create some OCs if I'm feeling really ambitious. Write more in general.
