I realized that my fascination with friendship probably stems from my childhood obsession with a certain little-known book series, and I'm drawn to anything that even vaguely reminds me of it.

I still have all the books. I should re-read them.

Rereading is always good (well, unless it leads to disappointment).
But I think friendship is probably a central theme in a lot of children's literature, as it's a lot more meaningful to them than all the silly sloppy stuff that their elders keep going on about...
