You can just paste them in when they're ready.

That's only intended for people like me who are pasting in already-formatted HTML imported from elsewhere (if I'm putting a story chapter on Dreamwidth, for example) - it prevents all the paragraphs getting double spacing etc.
But under normal circumstances, pasting in plain text should have precisely the same effect as typing it directly into the text box -- after all, there is physically no way for a web browser to tell the difference.
(The other potential issue that occurs to me is a question of line endings, but since DOS/Windows operates the 'belt and braces' approach of using *both* potential terminating characters as versus the old Mac/Unix divide, I'd have expected double-spacing rather than disappearing line breaks...)
